Digital Drama Fest - Monologue Showcase - July 31, 2020

I'm thrilled to be a part of this Digital Drama Fest being produced by On Brand Productions. I'll be performing in their monologue showcase, which touches on the fear that Black people face in our society. I'm grateful to have the chance to create and share art that spreads awareness and gives a voice to those who are often silenced.

Tickets and more information are available at onbrandproductions.org.

All proceeds benefit 6 different organizations involved with the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Unified Professional Theatre Auditions - February 9, 2020

Next month, I'm heading to Memphis for UPTAs! I'm audition number 607 on Sunday and I'm so excited to meet other artists, learn about some great companies, and catch up with a few IWU alum.

Megan Erin Lai

my universe is only You

I wrapped an original short film on November 4 with some talented students from Columbia College. We shot everything in two days and part of me wishes it had been longer because of how much I enjoyed working with everyone and getting to know more artists who are pursuing their passions, just like I am.

Quetta Killed Her Prom Date

I spent the first week of August shooting this lovely short film in Bloomington and Lincoln, Illinois with a wonderful cast and crew. The film is currently in post-production.

The Woman I Am &-2.png

The Woman I Am & The Woman I'd Like to Be

For my independent study, I worked with one of my professors to put together this show that focuses on characters I feel either reflect the woman I am or the woman I aspire to be. Featuring a variety of songs, monologues, and scenes, this experience has been very rewarding for me in learning more about myself as a person and as an actress.

The performance was April 7, 2019 in the Phoenix Theatre.

IWU Midsummer

A Midsummer Night's Dream - February 20-24, 2019

In early November, I auditioned and was fortunate enough to be cast as Hermia in Illinois Wesleyan's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Working with the cast and creative team has been one of the most rewarding experiences at IWU, and I've loved creating my own version of this beautiful role.

Having first read and loved the play in high school, I can't think of a better show than this to end my main stage performances at IWU on the Jerome Mirza stage.

Performances were February 20-23 at 7:30PM and February 24 at 2:00PM.

IWU School of Theatre Arts

Senior Showcase - February 2019

I loved sharing the stage with my friends and classmates in our Senior Showcase. Getting to work together over the years, but especially in this production, was a rewarding and humbling experience that I'm proud to share with my peers.

Performances were February 2 at Illinois Wesleyan University and February 4 at Stage 773 in Chicago.

Breaking Up - Program.jpg

Breaking Up - December 2018

Written by Michael Cristofer, Breaking Up tells the story of Steve and Alice, a former couple that struggles to move on after breaking up with each other. The challenging two-hander follows the pair as they learn what they want in life, who they want to share it with, and whether they want to share it with each other.

Performances were December 1 at 7:00PM and December 2 at 2:00PM in the Phoenix Theatre.
